LGBTQ People & Workplace Inequality
Learn how to address workplace inequities for LGBTQ people.
This is an online course that takes a look at the challenges, policies, and hostile climate faced by LGBTQ people in the workplace. It is decidedly intersectional and also reflects insights gained from Queer Studies, Sociology, and Psychology. All in all, there are 4 parts to this course and it should take about 15 hours to complete.
The first part is a primer on sex, gender, sexuality, the theory of intersectionality, and basic concepts applying to LGBTQ people. The second part addresses access to education & the workplace and how that determines opportunities for LGBTQ people especially those facing multiple forms of oppression. For example, a Black trans woman has vastly different chances of being employed in ‘legitimate’ work than, say, a white trans man. Next is a part on experiences of LGBTQ people in the workplace and the impacts felt by this population. Finally, the 4th part considers solutions to inequity that every organization can take in order be more inclusive.
Each PART is expected to take 3-4 hours to complete on average.
Learners will have three months to complete the course.
The course is priced at £399 for non-members and £150 for Race Reflections members.
The course is suitable for all professionals, staff, managers and others with an interest in psychology, social justice, LGBTQ people, AND anti-racism.
